Elise Melnick (@hairbyELM) posted this Blue/gray ombre that caught our eye on instagram, showing a perfect way to modernize ombre.

"We had previously done a full ombre session and color correction at our first visit," says Melnick. "The next time i saw  her we used a toner to give that blue-gray effect."

Because her ends were porous and both weren't sure about the TRUE committment to the shade, Melnick decided to gently stain the hair. Here she offers the formula:

Goldwell Colorance lotion, 10V and a TINY drop of 2A to add that deep pure blue pigment.  "You need to use the 2A extremely sparingly or else it can pull really dark, but if used in small amounts can give awesome ash and blue-gray tones," says Melnick. Process for 20 minutes, shampoo and condition the hair.
