MODERN SALON Artist Connective member Hailey Mahone (@haileymahonehair) has a spunky nature that's apparent from her Instagram page. The Texarkana, Texas-based artist is known for her ability to create gorgeous color blends in nearly every shade.
In a recent post, Mahone showed off her love of yellow with a platinum combination that has us hanging on to summer just a little bit longer.
Mahone's client was already pretty light from the mid-lengths to the ends ends but did have about 2 inches of growth with a natural level 7. Mahone began by lifting her base withPulp RiotBlonde AF and 30 vol to a level 10.
Because she knew the end goal was yellow, Mahone didn't pretone her client's hair. After a shampoo and blwo dry, Mahone separated the hair into quadrants.
Starting in the back quadrant and working bottom to top, she applied Matrix SoColor Cult Semi Lucky Duck Yellow to her client's root (creating a 1-inch yellow root). Directly underneath the yellow root, she then applied Matrix SoColor Cult Semi Clear. With each section, Mahone used a wide-tooth comb to drag the yellow down to meet the clear in order to create the melted look.The look then processed for 30 minutes before it was rinsed with cold water and conditioned.
