After looking at the before picture, you may be thinking that you would need a miracle to transform that hairstyle! That miracle happened with the help of Haircolor Specialist Carrin Caracciolo (@hairbycarrinleigh) at Di Rosa Haircare in New York. Caracciolo's been in the beauty business for 15 years, so she knew that all her client's hair needed was some tender loving care.
The first thing Caracciolo noticed was the brassy hair color - it exhibited unwanted warmth in the hair. "Those dreaded yellow-orange tones that typically occur after hair has been chemically processed, dyed, highlighted, had to go," said Caracciolo. "I wanted to get rid of the brass and create a more, natural look for her," she said. "So I softened her root, and lightened and toned my canvas."
Here she gives us a more in-depth idea of how she went about this transformation.
STEP 1: For the root touch up, she used equal parts 6na and 20 volume developer.
STEP 2: In horizontal sections, Caracciolo balayaged the hair from midlengths to ends with equal parts Silk Lift lightener and 30 volume developer, blended with Olaplex.
STEP 3: Allow the hair to process for 30 minutes, then shampoo the hair.
STEP 4: As a toner, Caracciolo applied 80ml Goldwell Colorance Lotion, 20ml 10bs and 20ml 9na to the midlengths and the ends and processed for another 15 minutes. Afterward she rinsed and conditioned.
