Before: Mary’s before color had been bleached all over to platinum approximately 3 months prior. She had 1-1/2 inch of new growth and her natural level was between a level 6-7.
Desired Result: Her desired result was a disconnected "Ice Pixie". She did not want to be bleached all over but wanted to blend her existing ends and have her base color a bit lighter with a cool tone.
Gaines was up to the challenge and offers the HOW TO:
Step 1: In one process apply Beth Minardi 7ICE with 20 Vol at the root s while heavily weaving in foils joico bleach with 30 volume blue toner from Matrix on the top section.
Step 2: Process for 10 minutes under dryer, 30 mins out.
Step 3: Shampoo and Condition with Blonda from Unite.
Cut: The cut was done using scissors over comb technique using the HH8 7.5 by Hattori Hanzo. Using the shear over comb leaves a softer more lived in feel "that I find my female clients prefer." Gaines uses an an etching technique to blend the sides but leave it disconnected to let "lots of texture throughout the top to give structure and interest to the top."
Style: blow dry with Beachday by Unite and the Elevate Foam. Finished with tricky spray (a cross between a wax, shine spray and hairspray.
