Goldwell's John Simpson believes that the ombre effect is still a powerful look, but is even more exciting when vibrant shades are used to enhance the dimension.

"It's a great way to bring the look in to the fall and winter," he says. "Using vibrant shades makes it more sophisticated."

In this short video Simpson shows HOW TO get the look, including formulas.

Step 1. Outline the new growth of the section with a base shade. Take a diagonal section and place on Thermal Paper.

Step 2. Tap a base shade to the 1/3 closest to the root.

Step 3. Take a vibrant shade and apply to the mids. Diffuse vertically.

Step 4. A true shade, an intense vibrant shade in the same color family, is applied to the ends. Cover flat with a Thermal Paper. Continue throughout the hair in back to back sections.

"This look is seamless," says Simpson. "All  from horizontally diffused color. You can select any vibrant shade and make it work. It's taking Ombre into a whole new world of design."
