What do you do with an awesome haircut? You add awesome haircolor!
That’s exactly what award-winning salon owner and PRAVANA Guest Artist James Gartner (Instagram: @gartnerjames) decided to do after falling in love with this haircut dubbed “framework” due to its geometric shapes.
Take a closer look at the haircut, created by Paul Mitchell Guest Artist Casandra Cutter (Instagram: @casandracutter,) and you will notice that the shapes are framed into specific locations of the face to flatter the model. Try replicating this technique with any client, you just have to decide which attributes of a client’s face you want to emphasize or downplay.
“I was so inspired by this haircut that I decided to play off it with geometry in the color placement with deeper green and purple interior tones and light pink accents to show off all its goodness!” he says.

COLOR HOW-TO STEPS:
STEP 1: Pre-lighten the hair to a level 9 using Pravana Pure light + Olaplex and 40vol midstrand to the ends.
TIP: Avoid any previously lightened pieces. Once lifted go back into the base using Purelight and 20vol.
STEP 2: Rinse well and apply Olaplex Step 2 Bond Perfector as a treatment.
STEP 3: Dry the hair and begin your application of the custom Pravana Vivids formula at the base on the first section:
Base: 1.5oz Mystical Mint+.5oz Green.
STEP 4: Next apply your mid-strand formula
Mid-Strand: Mid-ends: 1.9oz silver+.1oz violet
STEP 5: Using your thumb and index finger, blend the colors together for soft diffusion.
STEP 6: As you work your way up the head and reach the longer disconnected pieces apply the ends formula.
Ends: 1oz too cute coral + .1oz magenta + .1oz Wild Orchid
STEP 7: Again blend the mid color with the ends color using your thumb and index finger.
