WHAT

Girl Next Door Curly Pompadour

BACKGROUND

"As a beauty expert I know that shape in curling hair is very important," says Gibson. "I often cut curly hair dry because I like instant gratification and I want to see the shape immediately. Trimming Gugu’s hair is so fun because it takes shape instantly. Gugu loves the girl next door look and her hair has a gorgeous texture. We wanted to showcase that with this look."

GET THE LOOK

  1. Curly haired girls are concerned with controlling frizz and adding shine, so I made sure to use styling products that would do just that. I applied a mixture of Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime, Kerastase Volumifique mousse for volume, L’Oreal Professionnel’s Gelee Cashmere and Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime Solid serum throughout her hair for control, shine and to define her curl.

  2. I then pulled all of her hair to the top of her head and brushed it up starting from the nape of her neck to the crown and pinned.

  3. With all her hair on top of her head, I pulled it to the front, allowing her curls to cascade toward her face.

  4. Finishand L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold to hold the look in place.

Sexy French Twist

BACKGROUND

"All of my years doing fashions shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris taught me to be able to change hair in an instant," says Gibson. "I definitely needed those skills working with Gugu yesterday! I felt like I was backstage at Chanel, Naomi just came from another show and I had less than 15 minutes to go from girl next door to hot sexy movie star! I was up for the challenge."

GET THE LOOK

  1. I first used Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime throughout her hair as a blow drying agent to add moisture, protect her hair from heat and add a sleek and smooth shine. I also applied Kerastase’s Mousse Bouffant for more volume.

  2. I then sectioned her hair taking 1 inch sections and smoothed out her hair with a flat iron.

  3. I wanted some drama in the front, so I left a small section of hair out around the perimeter of her hairline and backcombed the front of her hair for some height. I also backcombed the middle to have enough lift to form my French twist.

  4. Next, I brushed the left out hair in the front over the backcombed hair and pinned it to hold it in place.

  5. Covering the section I backcombed at the nape of her neck, I pulled all of her hair back with my fingers and rolled the hair onto itself vertically to form a French twist, securing with bobby pins.

  6. I finished with and L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold to hold the look in place.
