MODERN found Jenna Barbieri (@jennabarbs) on instragram. The 21 year old has already mastered the dry fingerwave. Barbieri works at Cactus Salon in Smithtown, NY and just earned her chair this week! "I am working my way up and slowly building a clientele," she says. "When I am not working in the salon I am doing hair at home. I am very busy but hair is my passion so I love it. The pictures I attached were for a photo shoot, we did in my Cactus education classes and we did the hair and make up for the models. I can't wait to do more with photo shoots and expand in the hair industry."
MODERN asked her to share the HOW TO. She obliged:
1. Using a curling iron the size of your finger (about 1/2”) using 1/2” sections (the size of your curling iron). Spray the section with a working hairspray.
2. Wrap the hair around the curling iron (as you would with a wand curling iron). All curls should be wrapped in the same direction. Clip in place.
3. Allow to cool.
4. Comb out the curls with a Mason Pearson brush.
5. Using your fingers, mold the hair into the desired fingerwave style. ("It take a few times to get it exactly how you want it to look but don’t be afraid to just keep combing the hair, the curls will not come out and eventually it will turn into a fingerwave")
6. Once you have molded it into the shape you want, clip into the wave with pin curl clips.
7. Spary with setting spray and allow to set.
8. Take the clips out and you have a finger wave.
