Giovanna Drew-Eastman (@hairpaintingbygiovanna) of Genesis Salon & Spa, Mount Vernon, WA., has been doing Paige’s hair since beauty school - 2014! "Her older sister is my childhood best friend," says Drew-Eastman. "Her mother would let her come in and get subtle highlights and cuts. Last year I transformed her hair with a beautiful blonde balayage. She wore that for almost one year before coming in this time for a refresh. When she sat in my chair this last time, I asked her if she wanted to do something that was similar to her last session. She said 'do whatever you want.' I love when clients give me creative freedom!"

Here Drew-Eastman shares the details for the transformation:

STEP 1: Blend Guy Tangs Mydentity Big 9 (cream lightener) and Magnum 8 lightener (equal parts) with 30 volume plus 1/8 oz of Olaplex. Apply in a basic balayage technique, parting into three sections: two sections off parietal, and one big section in back. STEP TWO: Then take two diagonal back sections and paint. After color is applied, take a horizontal section right above the others, making a triangle in the middle. At the front section take deep diagonal back sections, leaving the front pieces for last. "This technique usually takes me about an hour to paint," says the artist. Process for one hour then rinse. STEP THREE:  Apply a two tone colormelt glaze on very towel dried hair. "I always formulate a root color one level lighter than their natural base, and a mid to end formula one level darker then lifted level." Both shades are Guy Tang Mydentity:           ROOT AREA: 8ss + 7rg equal parts 1:1 6 vol

        Mids and Ends: 9rg + 10ss equal parts 1:2. 6 vol

STEP FOUR: Process for 25 minutes. "This service from start to finish was about 4 hours!"
