The look was sexy and raw at the Jeremy Scott S/S ’15 show during NYFW and all about a surfer finish. The beauty teams from Wella, led by Eugene Souleiman and OPI, led by Miss Pop, embraced the theme.

“Jeremy and I wanted the hair to appear windswept and raw like it had been styled by the sun and sea while still remaining chic and stylish,” said Souleiman.“I wanted to create a look based on surf culture that was relaxed and revealed the natural texture of the hair. Each girl had a unique look which was adapted to suit her individual style - a hidden braid, or a random crimped section; just something to set them each apart.” The addition of brightly colored hair accessories, designed by Miley Cyrus, added the perfect pop of quirkiness.

Get the Look:

Step 1:  Wash and condition hair using Wella Professionals Brilliance Shampoo and Conditioner.

Step 2:  Roughly dry the hair, turning the head upside down and blasting the roots to create volume.

Step 3: Once dry, spray hair generously with Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz for texture and the perfect base for styling.

Step 4: Take sections of hair and create any selection of the following:

- Random sections of crimped hair: Using a crimping iron on various lengths of the hair to provide points of interest.

- Thin braids at the back or front of the head: Using a fine tooth comb, back comb the end of the braid and spray with Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray to secure the braid without an elastic.

- Thick braids: Separate hair into 3-4 braids and secure each with an elastic. Spray each braid with Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray, apply heat with hair dryer and diffuser then unbraid for a beachy texture.

Step 5:  Rake fingers through hair (especially on the crown of the head) for a full, voluminous, textured finish.

For nails, lead artist Miss Pop worked with the designer’s beachy hippie inspiration to create colorful patterned nails that accented the collection’s vibrant prints.

That’s Hot! Pink, Life Gave Me Lemons, Can’t Find My Czechbook, Juice Bar Hopping, and A Grape Fit! were applied to models’ nails randomly using a dry brush technique. Miss Pop used the technique of individual brush strokes with little lacquer applied one after the other until the nail was filled to achieve a look of playing with paint on the nail.

Every model’s hand featured a different set of designs, mixing multicolor nails and individual bright hues partially or fully painted on with the airbrush-like technique, while some nails were left in the new nude – Matte Top Coat.

New to the runways, the playful nail art was carried through to the male models. Several of the male models also featured one of more of the bright, paint-inspired nails. “The next step for polish is getting it on men, including nail art,” says Miss Pop, lead nail artist for OPI at Fashion Week. “I am happy Jeremy Scott is taking this first step. There are no rules with this look. The colors are the palette and the nails the canvas.”

Nails were prepped with one coat of Base Coat and finished with Matte Top.
