Carissa Castiglia (@colorbymisscariss) a Colorist and Educator at Eva Scrivo Salons(@evascrivosalons) had her client express an interest in going blonde after having a dream and realizing it could never be her reality. “After a good laugh I explained that most people can go blonde but it’s so important that it’s the right shade for the skin and has enough depth at the root.” Castiglia decided to use multiple techniques to ensure enough brightness within the ends, resulting in a multidimensional seamless blend.

First Time Blonde: Overdeposited Brunette to Melted Bronde

Step 1: Begin foiling with Goldwell Silk Lift and 20 volume going up the head in a “V” direction using a heavy weave. A third of the way up the head switch to a horizontal parting and follow all the way to the top of the head, slightly teasing at the root.

Step 2: Using Goldwell Silk Lift Ash and 30 volume, go back through and paint all hair left in between foils using the balayage technique.

Step 3: Begin to foil away from the face in a fine weave, to the root, going diagonally back. After all foils are in, go back through and paint hair in between foil, again using a classic balayage technique, using Goldwell Silk Lift Ash and 30 volume.

Step 4: Shampoo & condition. Conditioning before glazing will allow for even toning. Leave out hairline and tone with Goldwell Colorance 10v adding a pea size amount of 8sb. Let sit for 7 minutes, then add the hairline in for last 3 minutes, for a total of 10 minutes. Rinse, condition, rough dry & style with a 1 1/4th inch iron leaving ends out.
