Last night at the 96th Annual Oscars, actress and presenter Lupita Nyong’o shined on the red carpet this evening with a hairstyle that celebrated her natural beauty, while showcasing her coils and texture, created by her longtime stylist, Vernon François using Matrix.

INSPIRATION: “The overall look of this hairstyle is inspired by Lupita’s natural beauty. I wanted to create something that had a lot of shine and texture. I meticulously followed a series of steps to enhance her natural coils and ensure that her look remained flawless throughout the high-profile event.”

GET THE LOOK:

  1. First, I applied Matrix A Curl Can Deam Light Hold Gel to define and enhance her natural texture, providing a beautiful base for the style.

  2. Next, I applied a small amount of Matrix Controller Gel around the hairline. This step was crucial to keep every strand in place and maintain a sleek look, while ensuring Lupita’s hair remained impeccable under the spotlight.

  3. To achieve the perfect balance between flexibility and structure, I used Matrix’s Fixer Hairspray to provide a flexible hold that would allow for movement without losing shape.

  4. For areas requiring extra hold, I applied Matrix’s Vavoom Extra Hold Freezing Hairspray to ensure that every element of the hairstyle stayed in place, providing long-lasting hold without compromising on the overall shine and vitality of the hair.
