The Boxy Balayage, a hair coloring technique invented by Bee Sam of Bee Sam Beauty, combines balayage coloring with box-shaped sectioning. Because the technique lends itself to more precision than traditional freehand balayage, Sam says it can "produce an extra burst of color and dimension."

With a Boxy Balayage, the hair is pre-sectioned into a box formation, and then balayaged, painted section by section. Because the Boxy Balayage is centered on color placement, Sam says this allows the colorist to get creative by arranging two or more colors in a pattern. The technique is versatile, as it can be used as part of a gray blending project, or you can go bold and bright with more vivid colors.

"I wanted to give my clients a hair experience that went beyond, so I tried to think outside of the box...which coincidentally led me to a pre-sectioning pattern that resembeld a box," Sam explains. "No two Boxy Blayages are the same, so you can get creative by adding more colors which produces that extra 'wow factor' but still remains melted in appearance like a traditional balayage."

Bee Sam operates from her private hair salon located in Vancouver, WA, specializing in hair coloring, the braided balayage, highlights, going blonde, gray blending, corrective color and so much more.  Visit her here.
