Upstyle Artist Embraces Texture in Her Romantic Styles

2 min to read

  • Bridal hair specialist Krystle Waivio finds that working with--instead of against --her client’s natural texture has become her favorite style secret.

  • Based in Grand Rapids, MI, Waivio is a member of the MODERN SALON Artist Connective. Her updo tutorials involve much more shaping and sculpting with product than taming and smoothing with tools.

  • For the looks featured, she works with products from the new brand Blossom Pure Haircare.

This style has soft movement, with hair wrapped around the nape, and escaping tendrils.

Watch her twist, wrap and tame texture.

This bridal style is intentionally undone and effortless.

"My bride wanted lots of volume and texture," says Waivio. "My go-to texture powder has been the Blossom Pure HaircarePeppermint & Tea Tree Dry Shampoo & Texturizing Powder.

"Seriously, it’s my absolute favorite one to work with for updos. It absorbs excess oils AND gives some serious grip to the root area so you can backcomb and fluff up for volume and staying power. The bottle is ideal for application with the precise tip. Shake it out for a little or squeeze the bottle for a lot."

A half-up, half-down style is versatile and on-trend.

Waivio worked with natural curls and waves in this bridesmaid upstyle. "I was able to create a super cute and easy half updo using the Jojoba Curly Hair Lotion (from Blossom Pure Haircare)," she says.  "It adds definition and shine to second day naturally wavy hair. I’m loving all the texture, yet it still has shine! Using the Jojoba Curly Hair Lotion prior to styling, let air dry or with a diffuser."

Then to tame frizz and define, she used a small amount on the dried curls after going through with the wand. To absorb oils at the root and add grip and texture, she used the Peppermint & Tea Tree Dry Shampoo & Texturizing Powder from Blossom Pure Haircare.
