STMNT Grooming Goods is expanding into the shave care category with three new additions to its lineup.
Kenra, Bosley Professional and Aquage weigh in on which looks they predict will be in demand throughout the holiday weeks.

Romantic looks will be in demand throughout the holiday weeks, industry observers predict.
“I expect this year’s holiday hair to be very unstructured, with simple styles that can be recreated easily at home,” says Laken Rose, senior artistic manager at Kenra. “Soft waves, a bit of natural texture and flyaways will be incorporated into full knots or buns, romantically pulled low or even draping the shoulders.”
JB Shelton agrees. “I’m expecting the romantic trend to continue,” says Shelton, an educator for Bosley and owner of Detour Salon and Style in Anderson, Indiana. “Loose, textured, undone, easy, free and uncomplicated style will follow into the fall.”
Evolving textured looks will be smoother and shinier, according to Luis Alvarez, creative director for Aquage (see the Aquage holiday portfolio on pages 63-67). “Each strand is more defined,” Alvarez explains. “The surface will stay smooth rather than the roughed-up looks that have been dominating, and the pattern and texture will be random, not messy.”
While Alvarez says that hairdressers “can create magic with lots of products,” clients need help at home from products that do the work for them. Aquage’s new Sea Extend Volume Mist is formulated to make styling super easy and keep hair soft. Use a diffuser to define smooth movement on wavy hair, blow out straight hair for fullness and random texture or air-dry curly hair for natural, frizz-free definition.
You can tell that clients are loving the textured look because of their new habits at home, observes Nioxin educator Diane Cole Stevens. “Guests are finally waiting two days to shampoo,” Stevens explains. “With second-day hair, many are using dry shampoos to fluff and pin hair up.”
