MODERN's Beauty & Fashion Director is the NYC based Editor and Art Director for Modern Salon Magazine and modernsalon.com. Maggie joined MODERN in the 1980's and has spent more than 3 decades covering the professional beauty industry around the world. In addition to writing articles, Maggie travels globally as a journalist to report on the latest trends, products and techniques in the professional beauty world. Known for a keen eye, Maggie has judged hundreds of national competitions including NAHA, and international competitions such as Wella International Trend Vision and Goldwell Color Zoom among others. As an Art Director, Maggie is responsible for hundreds of magazine covers and thousands of inside pages and features for Modern Salon and her sister publications. Among her many professional passions is ARTIST SESSION, the 2-day workshop she founded which offers direction and inspiration to hairdressers interested in learning how to do successful photoshoots. A graduate of Boston College, Maggie is the author of Great Looks (Doubleday) and, in the few minutes of spare time she has left, is working on a book for children that has NOTHING to do with beauty.

It was hot hot, hot, hot in Miami when designers hit the runway showing their latest swimwear fashions. Even hotter was the hair! Rusk sponsored three shows and our favorite silhouettes complemented Ed Hardy designs. The hair team, led by Marcus Caillet alongside Rusk Master Stylists Nuri Lopez and Geoffrey Frost, created some outrageously wild and untamed looks.
MODERN’s second Artist Session resulted in some incredible finishes, including this month’s cover look.

Behind the scenes at the Prada Resort show in New York last month, MODERN chatted with international style star and Redken Creative Consultant Guido. Born and raised in Dorset, England, Guido travels around the world to create looks for fashion shows, editorial spreads and advertisements. His creative styles were perfect with Prada’s elegant fashions.
Beauty Director Maggie Mulhern landed the plum assignment of flying to L.A. to shoot literal interpretations of some of OPI's favorite shades, including the perfect pale pink, "Suzi and the Lifeguard." The models also paid homage to shiny silver "Birthday Babe," royal purple "Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not" and cinnamon-shaded "Baguette Me Not."
