MODERN's second Artist Session resulted in some incredible finishes, including this month's cover look.
"I loved my model the second I saw her," says cover artist Denise Sakai of the JDK Salon in Aiea, Hawaii. "There were almost 100 fantastic models that showed up, but when Anastasia walked in I knew what I was going to do and that she was perfect for me!"
To get this cover look, Sakai added 18-inch HairUWear extensions, prepped with Moroccanoil, smoothed with a Create Ion flatiron, sprayed with Redken's 09 Workforce Volumizing Spray and finally teased with a Marilyn brush. "These, along with more than 100 other things, were included in the goody bag," says Sakai. "It's great to be introduced to new products and tools." Sakai also used Xfusion Keratin Hair Fibers in dark brown along the model's hairline prior to shooting.
"It's a little tip that I learned during the program part of the session," says Sakai.
While Sakai admits loving life in Hawaii, she cherished her trip to New York for Artist Session. "This was, by far, the best experience in my hairdressing career," says Sakai. "I left the session with a sense of elation, relief and disbelief as it felt surreal. I've always dreamed of working on a photoshoot with the best of the best and I finally made my dream come true!"
