Mizani has announced to MODERN SALON that César Ramirez will be the brand’s new Global Artistic Director. The creative talent behind Jennifer Hudson’s signature pixie and Ciara’s blonde ombre bob, Ramirez’s styling technique has made him one of the most sought after stylists in Hollywood. He has an ever-growing list of celebrity clientele, and has worked with Beyoncé, Taraji P. Henson, Khloe Kardashian, La La Anthony, Demi Lovato and Rita Ora, among others.
As Mizani’s Global Artistic Director, Ramirez will serve as a spokesperson for the brand. He will lead education initiatives and events, provide artistic direction on photo shoots and offer product vision and insight. Ramirez will also contribute to digital and social media campaigns, develop relevant professional and consumer content and support key product launches, such as the recently introduced Mizani True Textures collection, a haircare and styling range for curls, coils and waves.

“The world of textured hair is an ever growing one," says Ramirez. "I believe that by merging my expertise of all hair textures with the experts on the Mizani team, we will form a highly educated, experienced and creative new way of styling and maintaining textured hair. We plan to push past the boundaries most have not yet recognized as boundaries. From color trends to innovative cuts to creating new textures, we will be ready to take this industry by storm.”
Throughout his 16 years in the industry, Ramirez has apprenticed under some of the most highly renowned stylists in the industry. He credits industry icon Ruth Roche for inspiring him artistically and editorially, and Jo Blackwell and Lori Zabel, who assisted in cultivating his cut, color and technical skills during his time as a stylist at Dop Dop Salon in New York.
Ramirez is known to create meticulous and polished looks that merge structure, sexiness and artistic allure. He has served as creative director on five music videos this year for pop musical duo Dumblonde. His looks have been seen on many TV shows such as The X Factor and Celebrity Apprentice. His work has graced the covers and adorned the pages of Essence, W, Elle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Latina, Vanity Fair and many other magazines. He has also garnered recognition for the vision he brings to the runways, where he has worked with fashion forward designers like Victor De Sousa, Katie Gallagher, Carlos Campos, Michael Costello and Narciso Rodriguez. He has been recognized by the industry’s media outlets, where he has earned Best Hair for his work during Fashion Week on several seasons.
“Cesar Ramirez is an innovative stylist with an immense body of work and a unique point of view,” says Shane Wolf, worldwide general manager, Mizani. “With tremendous expertise in transforming textured hair he is a perfect fit as Mizani’s global artistic director. We are excited to embark on a new chapter for Mizani with Cesar as a partner and look forward to reaching an expanded audience of professionals and consumers.”
