Mega star Angelina Jolie recently made headlines when she revealed that she had opted for a double mastectomy after learning that she had inherited a high risk of breast cancer. Decisions like this one are difficult for and brave for young women, something that Bright Pink founder Lindsay Avner knows all too well.
At 23, Lindsay became the youngest patient in the country to opt for a double mastectomy with reconstruction, after losing her mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and learning that she also had an 87% risk of developing breast cancer.

During her assessment surgery and recovery Lindsay learned that virtually no resources existed for women like her—who had not been diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer but wanted to take a proactive approach to their health. So she created Bright Pink®, a non-profit focusing on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women, while providing support for high-risk individuals.
Recognizing the natural synergy between Bright Pink and his own lifelong commitment to creating a safe environment for women and their health, Farouk Systems Founder and Chairman Farouk Shami and CEO, Basim Shami have pledged their company’s support to Bright Pink with the release of the special edition Bright Pink CHI TOUCH Blow Dryer.
“A beautiful woman is one who is bright, aware and in charge of her body, inside and out,” declares Farouk. “Together with Bright Pink, we plan to revolutionize the way women care for their health by ensuring they are educated and empowered to make healthy, proactive choices for their beauty care and in other aspects of their lives.”
“We are honored to be receiving this commitment from Farouk Systems and look forward to working together to inspire brightness in young women, both inside and out,” said Lindsay Avner, Bright Pink Founder and CEO.
The dryer is equipped with an LCD screen, precision engineered AC motor that produces a lower than average amount of EMF radiation and utilizes ceramic, ionic, and far infrared heat to keep hair healthy, shiny and smooth.
