For many salon and spa owners the current recession was a game-changer, requiring salon and spa owners to brush up on their business skills to stay competitive. Wella North Americs is stepping up to help with that effort with Salon Savvy, a multi-course, multi-discipline education curriculum developed exclusively for salon professionals.

The program’s courses, available as e-learning, webinars, events and live learning, cover nine content areas organized by the learner’s need and ranging from the basics of becoming an efficient, effective receptionist to a series on mastering the growth of salon business.
Courses are taught by some of the top education professionals in the salon industry, including
Robert and Julie Cass of Salon Prophets; Neil Ducoff of Strategies; Kelly Ehlers of Evoke Brand Strategies; RockStar Communications from Reg Laws and Mary Shaffer of PR@Partners; as well as technical experts from Millennium by Harms Software and Milano Software, and successful salon owners and stylists from the Wella family. The nine content areas are:

Salon Masters of Business Advancement: two-day in-depth live learning facilitated by Robert and Julie Cass, covering business operations; budgeting; marketing; compensation structure; client retention and more.

Retail: interactive online training on client behavior sharing consumer insights revealed by P&G’s world-renowned market researchers as well as training on profitable consultations.

Stylist Savvy: interactive online learning on power booking, referrals and building your own brand.

Managing for the Future: covering team-building, company culture development, stretch goal-setting and championing change.

Step Ahead Technology: training  leveraging the latest technological tools to drive traffic and volume; additional tool and support by Millennium and Milano technology experts.

Reception Fundamentals: interactive online and webinar education on time management, booking priorities and sales.

Social Media: online and interactive training with social media grounding and branding instruction for salons and individual stylists.
Marketing Essentials, training on the marketing tools most practical and cost-effective for salons.

Custom Consultation: exclusive, individualized business consultations on the full range of issues, provided by Salon Prophets; Strategies; Evoke Brand Strategies; PR@Partners; Millennium; and Milano.

Live learning events take place at the Wella World Studio in Manhattan and at the Studio LA in Los Angeles. Online interactive education is available 24/7 at www.wellainteractive.com. Webinars are scheduled monthly. Some courses require a fee, but many are completely free to licensed beauty professionals and Wella salon owners.
