Hair U Wear/Great Lengths

First job in beauty: At a small salon a friend’s sister owned, in 1996

Licensed: Johnson County Community College Cosmetology, 1996

Three highlights of your career:

  1. The day a friend told me about Great Lengths hair extensions.  She told me she heard about them while she was in California on vacation and said she wanted them.  I told her that extensions would ruin her hair and she talked me into looking into them, that they were amazing and wouldn't cause any damage.  Best suggestion of my career.

  2. Expanding my career into hair replacement. Doing Great Lengths brought me into the hair replacement world.  I would have people coming in interested in extensions for their thinning hair or other situations.  Learning to help people with thinning hair and other issues like alopecia and trichotillomania.  This gave me so much fulfillment to be able to help people with a situation like this. It changed their life and that justified everything I do and why I love my job.

  3. The day I opened my own Studio, Arista Hair Solutions.  I wanted to create a place where men and women could come for all their hair needs.  A place that could color and cut as well as specialize in Hair Replacement and Hair Extensions.  This was one of the most exciting highlights of my career.  I have an amazing team of very talented stylists and am blessed to be where I am today.

Beauty legend you respect: Sophia Loren

Why choose beauty: Unlike the stereotype of the past, hairdressers these days can make as much money as a doctor does and have fun at the same time.

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You

In Dubai, a salon visit isn’t an appointment. It’s a weekly routine, and clients can spend $800 to $1,400 a month on it, according to Gaurav Tripathi of MADI International. On October 6-8, 2026, the market behind those numbers opens its doors as Beautyworld Dubai marks its 30th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together distributors, brands, stylists and salon owners from all over the world.
