Alii Wray, (@missxalii) owner of Salon blk, Pittsgrove, NJ, specializes in vibrant color, color correction and fusion extensions. "I think dramatic makeovers are my absolute favorite," she says. "This was definitely one of them!"
Prior to coming to Wray, this client had gone to several other colorists and continued to get highlights so she could "Get lighter without going yellow or killing my hair." She also used Shimmer Lights on a regular basis "To keep the yellow out and make my hair lighter."
Unfortunately, nothing was working. The hair was several shades and had some breakage. "This is how my client came to me," says Wray. "She had grown out roots, a large white band, blue-ish band and then gold/orangey ends."
Here Wray shares how she corrected the color and delivered a beautiful Super Blonde result:
Step 1: Apply Matrix V-light 30v with a bond builder on her entire hair. Apply first to the grown out root area keeping it about 1/4" off of her scalp. Process for 10-15 minutes.
Step 2: Pull through the bottom of her mid-stand to ends to pull some of the blue and gold pigment out of her hair.
Step 3: Once finished pulling it through, go back in with the same lightener and touched up her roots. "This way everything processed evenly." Process for 10 minutes. Rinse and towel dry.
Step 4: Apply Matrix Color Sync 8P to her roots and blend out about 3".
Step 5: For the rest of her hair tone with 1/2 10P and 1/2 10V and let process for about 5-7 minutes.
Step 6: Rinse and apply a bond builder. Shampoo and condition with Biolage Keradose and style.
