More often than not, less is more. That is true especially when it comes to everyday clients coming into the salon. For the majority of guests, their lifestyle can make it difficult to commit to a manicure consisting of nail art, adornments or bright colors. Enter nail artist Betina Goldstein, whose Instagram feed @betina_goldstein invites us in for a breath of fresh air.

Sprinkled into Goldstein’s feed are magazine covers or editorial work on celebrities, but the bulk of her page consists of clean backgrounds, whispers of whimsy and well-manicured fingernails (in both meanings of the phrase). For spring and summer, we’ll bet that many guests will come sit in your chair asking for a gradient manicure that Goldstein showcases so beautifully. To get the look, choose five different colors that live near each other on the color wheel—whether it be a spectrum of hues or the same color ranging in lightness and depth. Dedicate one color per nail, working in ascending or descending order. The result? A colorful mani perfect for everyday wear.
