Bellus Academy students were awarded the learning experience based on their fundraising efforts in the Beauty Changes Lives Mentorship Competition. Cosmetology students across the U.S. held fundraising events raising dollars for Beauty Changes Lives, a non-profit that awards scholarships and mentorships to hairstylists. Two Bellus Academy campuses led the fundraising challenge.

While sharing lessons from his career as a hairstylist and certified life coach, Carruthers emphasized the importance of “leading from the heart” and always leading with listening to the client in the chair. As he demonstrated hair cutting, he observed that listening skills are just as important as cutting techniques.

“The opportunity to learn and connect with one of the industry’s most accomplished and passionate educators was an especially inspiring experience for Bellus students,” said Lynelle Lynch, Bellus Academy owner. “Andrew’s career as a salon owner, educator, artist and coach spotlights the many paths to personal and professional success in this amazing industry for those who have the confidence and courage to pursue their dream.”
