Award-winning brow and celebrity makeup artist, entrepreneur and social media beauty maven Kelley Baker (@kelleybakerbrows) knew her calling early on when she witnessed the confidence boost of her clients after they left her chair.
Thirteen years later, she’s one of the most sought after brow artists and has accumulated an Instagram following of more than 572K. Baker uses the platform to share real-time images and videos of clients in her chair from her salon on Abbott Kinney Boulevard in Venice, California.
Baker is the creative and developmental force behind her self-named cosmetic line, which focuses on brow products, and is touring with Satin Smooth to live demo her signature brow artistry technique at trade shows and classes around the U.S.
Born and raised: LA native—born in Brentwood and have lived in Malibu and Venice Beach.
I would like to makeover: My idol, Beyoncé
Favorite items in my wardrobe: Schoen By Yu jeans, Chanel purse, All Saints jacket
I became a beauty pro because: It's what I was born to do.
If I hadn't become a beauty pro: I'd probably be a NASCAR driver.
Most people would be surprised: My brows are far from perfect. If I wipe off my brow makeup, you can see that I'm a product of the over-tweezed '90s.
Best part of my job: Bringing out the inner beauty in each client and being able to make women feel pretty and confident. Their smile at the end of an appointment says it all.
Toughest part of my job: Balancing being a single mom and being a career-driven woman.
Best advice I ever received: Listen to your intuition and follow your passion!
My goal as a professional: To be known as an artist who cares about giving each client their own unique brow, and that I put my heart into making the best brow products so every person in the world can use them fuss-free.
My favorite hair and beauty era: Anything big, bouncy, wavy and fabulous!
Favorite song right now: "What Do You Mean?" by Justin Bieber. I'm a Belieber!
I relax by: Reading positive, motivational quotes. They put my mind at peace.
Guilty pleasure: I love Rice Krispy Treats.
My motto: Always be nice, and work your butt off.
