In their first photoshoot collaboration, Mustafa Avci and Linh Phan show us their take on pairing interesting colors and bold silhouettes for the coming season—proving mixing warm with cool shades, and severe with soft shapes, are changing the game.
Our friends, Mustafa Avci (@mustafaavci) of Hair Salon M, Brooklyn, New York, and Linh Phan (@bescene) of Be Scene Studios, Rockville, Maryland, have admired each other for years, and have shared the B3 stage at recent hair shows, demonstrating the latest is design and color. However, the two have never collaborated in a studio or on a professional photoshoot.
MODERN decided to up the ante for this issue by inviting these social superstars and talented artists to team up and create new looks for our August Game Changers issue.
It was a love-fest from the moment we suggested the idea. “That would be amazing,” said Avci when we asked him if he would be interested in working with Phan. “What a perfect collab.”
“I’m in! I have so much respect for him,” Phan said. “I know Mustafa will take my color to a whole other level.”
The artists were challenged with two models, each with a unique need and situation. Tapping in to their artistic tool kit, Phan chose to go metallic while Avci decided to go classic beauty with his signature glam waves and finishes. Modern color and classic shape? Metallic shade with tasteful silhouette? Game on!
