The Met Museum Costume Institute's theme for 2018 is "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." The exhibit is designed to ignite conversation between religious artworks and high fashion, as further expressed as Hollywood's best and boldest ascended upon the Met Gala's red carpet for an evening of unforgettable looks emphasized further by selections in hair and makeup. Here are some of our favorites:

KIM KARDASHIAN WEST

Hair: Color Wow Global Creative Director and Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton prepped Kim’s damp hair with Color Wow’s Dream Coat for that supernaturally sleek, silky smooth texture. Dream Coat fights frizz by controlling moisture levels and locking down the hairs cuticle as tight and smooth as possible. The spray was then heat-activated using the Dyson Supersonic Pro hair dryer, lightly curled and gathered into a half-up high pony. "Gather the hair from the front of the ear to the crown so you don’t add too much hair and the pony sits flat,” Chris said. He then used Color Wow's Cult Favorite Firm + Flexible hairspray to finish the look.

Makeup: Kim's long-time friend and makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic used all KKW Beauty products to create Kim's '90s Versace supermodel look. After prepping her face, Mario created a dramatic eye and a subtle bronzed face. Using the shade Albanian from the KKW x MARIO palette, he blended the color into her crease. He next used a smudge brush to blend the KKW x Argenis Creme Eyeshadow Stick in Dramatico along the lash line and in the outer corners of the eyelids. He then applied false eyelashes. Mario completed Kim's look using concealer, contour, highlighters and lipstick from KKW Beauty.

EMMA STONE

Hair: Emma's signature red locks were recreated by celebrity colorist Tracey Cunningham using Redken Shades EQ. The color dispersed evenly using WetBrush's Original Detangler and was complemented with a loose, side-swept style from celebrity stylist Mara Roszak. To create the effortless look, Mara used Bio Ionic's 10X Dryer and a round brush to smooth the hair and add polish. After using medium-sized rollers, Mara then went back in with Bio Ionic's 10X Iron to curl 1-inch sections of hair away from Emma's head.

BLAKE LIVELY

Hair: Blake's romantic, textured updo featured a stunning halo. Celebrity hairstylist Rod Ortega of Solo Artists began by using René Furterer's Volumea Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner. He then prepped the hair with the René Furterer Volumea Volumizing Conditioning Spray - No Rinse onto small sections around the head before combing it through the ends and finger-drying the hair using a blow dryer and diffuser. A 1-inch wand was used to create a mix of small and large burls that were eventually brushed out. To create the updo, Rod sectioned the hair and secured it into a ponytail. The halo was then placed and secured on the head before being sprayed with René Furterer Style Vegetal Texture Spray. After creating a twister bun and anchoring the halo with hairpins, Rod finished the look with René Furterer Vegetal Finishing Spray.

AMAL CLOONEY

Hair: Rod was also responsible for Amal's loose, romantic ponytail. After using René Furterer's Volumea Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner and prepping the hair with the Volumizing Conditioning Spray, as well, Rod used a round brush to blow the hair out in 2-inch sections to create a full-bodied look. He then used a 1.75-inch clip barrel iron to curl the hair before brushing it out. He left the front and sides out and pulled the rest of the hair up to the crown and into a ponytail. He teased the front sections before using the Vegetal Texture Spray and the Finishing Spray.

AMANDA SEYFRIED

Hair: For Amanda's glowing goddess look, celebrity hairstylist Christian Wood began by applying Wella Professionals' EIMI Extra Volume Mouse to her wet hair from mid-lengths to the ends. He then used a Ghd Air hairdryer to dry her hair by having her tip her head upside down. A sharp middle part was added using a pintail comb. Starting at the nape of the neck, Christian took small sections of hair and sprayed them with Wella Professionals' EIMI Stay Firm Hairspray and brushed it through. He then wrapped Amanda's hair around a Ghd Curve Soft Curl Iron. Once her hair had cooled, Christian sprayed Wella Professionals' EIMI Dry Me through to add texture and fullness. Once the hair had been brushed out, Christian finished the look with Wella Professionals' EIMI Stay Firm Hairspray.

Hair: Christian was stunned by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s ethereal Ralph Lauren gown and gold halo headpiece to match the night’s theme. He applied Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Light Luminous Reflective Oil to her wet hair. He then blow dried the hair smooth section-by-section using the Ghd Air Hairdryer and a round brush. Once dry, he parted her hair in the middle using a pintail comb. He then ran the Ghd Gold professional styler over the top layer of the hair to achieve an extra shiny, smooth base for pulling the hair back. Her hair was next pulled into a pony and spritzed with Wella Professionals EIMI Stay Firm Hairspray. Using a Ghd Curve soft curl iron, Christian curled a few sections of hair to add a loose wave to the ponytail. The ponytail was then wrapped around its base, pinning with large hairpins  to create a large sleek chignon. The look then consisted of using  Wella Professionals' EIMI Stay Firm Hairspray for extra hold and Glam Mist to add extra shine. The final look used a small amount of EIMI Sculpt Force.

ANNE HATHAWAY

Hair: Inspired by Anne's red Valentino dress, celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel said he wanted to create a look that felt minimal yet modern. He started to create his vision using Virtue Full Shampoo and Conditioner. Once Anne's hair was washed, Adir used the WetBrush Original Detangler to brush out any tangles. After applying the Virtue Uplifted Volumizing Whipe from roots to ends, he dried Anne's hair using the Bio Ionic 10X Dryer and created barrel curls with a .75-inch curling iron. Her hair was the brushed out and pulled into a fresh twist. Custom-made golden quills were placed into the updo to complete the style.

 HAILEY BALDWIN

Hair: The Meta Gala red carpet was the chance for Hailey to debut a new look: bright, candy-colored pink hair by Redken Influencer Ryan Pearl. He used a combination of Redken Shades EQ Gloss and Redken City Beats (in Midtown Magenta, Ballet Pink, Chelsea Coral and Clear) to create this new hue. Hailey's hair was styled by celebrity stylist Jen Atkin.

LILY ALDRIDGE

Hair: Moroccanoil celebrity stylist Bryce Scarlett worked with Lily to create a simple, modern take on a '50s Italian movie star. He started her look by using a dime-sized amount of Moroccanoil Treatment. He then used the Moroccanoil Protect & Prevent Spray evenly throughout mid-lengths and ends and combed to distribute. A the roots, Bryce worked in Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse before blowing Lily's hair smooth using the Moroccanoil Ceramic 45MM Round Brush and Professional Ceramic Hair Dryer. The next step was to use Moroccanoil's Dry Texture Spray to create textured volume near the root. Her hair was then pulled into a ponytail with height at the crown and wrapped into a chignon. The entire look was held together using Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium.

HAILEE STEINFELD

Hair: To create the soft, angelic textured hairstyle on Hailee, hairstylist Gregory Russel used Amika's Plus Size Perfect Body Mousse to begin. He then created a center part and dried the cry section with a multi-bristle brush for added texture. In order to create a loose, natural wave, Gregory then used the Amika Confidante Moisture-lock Styler. He then sprayed the Amika Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray and a pearl-sized amount of Amika's Heiist Molding Blend for a romantic and ropey texture. The crown was then placed in Hailee's hair before it was set with Amika's Fluxus Touchable Hairspray.

LANA DEL REY

Hair: Stylist Sheridan Ward began Lana's statement look by priming her hair with Amika's The Wizard Detangling Primer and  small amount of the Plus Size Perfect Body Mousse. Next, he loosely braided Lana's hair in 2-inch sections and allowed them to air dry for 15 minutes. The braids were sprayed with Amika's The Shield Anit-Humidity Spray and pressed with The Confidante Moisture-lock Styler. Once cooled (for 20 minutes), the braids were undone and created loose waves. Sheridan finished the look the Fluxus Touchable Hairspray, and a crown was added.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON

Hair: To complement Scarlett's stunning dark red dress, stylist Davy Newkirk created an elegant updo. He started by applying a small amount of Amika's Plus Size Perfect Body Mousse throughout Scarlett's hair. He then dried the hair in sections using a 1-inch round brush and created bends with a flat iron at random sections. After applying the Un.Done Volume and MAtte Texture spray, Davy tousled the hair into the desired shape and gave the roots a blast of Amika's Vandal Volume Powder Spray (launching June 2018). He then applied the Heist Molding Blend in sections to give a piece-y look before finishing the style with Headstron Intense Hold Hairspray.

KYLIE JENNER

Hair: After seeing Kylie's Alexander Wang dress, hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons said he knew he either had to do a ponytail or bun to keep the silhouette nice and clean. Ultimately they decided on a centered bun toward the back of the head. He began the look with a sleek blowout using Paul Mitchell Extra Body Sculpting Foam. He then added in hair extensions to give the bun more volume. After sectioning off the very front of her hairline, he pulled everything else back into a bun using Paul Mitchell Extra Body Firm Finishing Spray. He then sprayed the leftover pieces with Paul Mitchell INVISIBLEWEAR Undone Texture Hairspray. Some pieces were then pulled into the bun while others were left to frame her face. Additional pieces from the bun were pulled out and sprayed with Paul Mitchell Neon Sugar Tease Texture + Hold Teasing Hairspray. For further definition, a small amount of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum was placed on the piece sticking out of the bun before the entire look was finished with Extra Body Firm Finishing Spray.

OLIVIA MUNN

Hair: Chad Wood, celebrity stylist, was inspired by Olivia's custom-designed H&M gown. The gown's strength and power resembled body armor, so Chad said they wanted to create a hair look to balance the stark feel of the design. Gold metallic chainmail contrasted against soft flowing hair. After generously spraying Kenra's Platinum Blow-Dry Spray and Platinum Luxe On Leave-in, Chad gave Olivia a smooth blowout. He then sectioned out the hair into four to five small rectangle-shaped sections. He applied Kenra Platinum Dry Texture spray to Olivia's roots for more volume and took 1-inch sections and sprayed Kenra Volume Spray 25 for a tousled texture. S-shaped movements were created using a flatiron to create subtle movement. Finally, Chad spray Olivia's entire head with the volume spray to ensure the look lasted.

CARA DELEVINGNE

Hair: Cara's stunning pink hair were courtesy of Mara Roszak, as well. Mara used Jocio's Color Butter temporary hair color and Joico's Hair Shake texturizer to give Cara a stunning 'do with a pop of color. She mixed Color Butter in Purple and Pink and applied it to Cara's damp hair. After letting the color sit for 5 minutes, Mara rinsed it out and gave the hair a rough dry. She then applied the Hair Shake to help sculpt the hair and give it movement. After Cara's crown was placed, Mara sprayed her hair with Joico's Power Spray for extra hold.

KATY PERRY

Hair: Rick Henry, of Nine Zero One Salon, used Joico's Blonde Life to ensure Katy's blonde hair was bright and matched her white and gold wings and beaded skirt. Blonde Life Lightening Powder with 20 Vol LumiShine Developer was placed on Katy's roots. After that processed for 35 minutes, Rick applied a mix of Blonde Life Lightening Powder with 10 Vol LumiShine Developer to bring up the intensity of Katy's ends. That processed for the final 10 minutes and was finished with a toner of ½ 10SB and Clear. After towel-drying Katy's short pixie cut, Rick applied Heat Set Blowout Perfecting Crème to safeguard hair from heat damage. He finished with Joico Beach Shake for glam texture.

SOLANGE

Hair: Solange looked stunning at the Met Gala, thanks to hair styling from celebrity stylist Jawara. He began by washing and deep-conditioning Solange's hair with Phyto's Phytomillesime Shampoo and Color-Enhancing Mask, as well as the Phytobaume Volume Conditioner. He then created a cocktail of three serums: the Phyto Specific Curl Legend Spray, Phytoelixir Subtle Oil and the Phyto Huile Soyeuse. This combination was used to add moisture, nutiriton and hydration. The next step was to use the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer professional edition and the Phytolisse Ultra-Glossing Finishing Serum to soften and tame the look before adhering Solange's headpiece. Jawara finished the look with Phytolaque Soie and Phytoelixir Subtle Oil.

JENNIFER LOPEZ

Hair: JLo's slicked-back hair was courtesy of celebrity stylist Lorenzo Martin. He began by using Matrix's Total Results 3-step system: Total Results Re-Bond Shampoo, Total Results Re-Bond Pre-Conditioner and Total Results Re-Bond Conditioner. To give her hair a wet but voluminous look, Lorenzo used Matrix Style Link Volume Builder Mousse at roots to end while her hair was damp. He then blow dried her hair and used a flat iron to create sleek look. A tail comb was then used to create a severe side part, and Matrix's Style Link Super Fixer Strong Hold Hair Gel helped to tuck hair behind the ears and add shine. To ensure the style lasted, Lorenzo finished with the Matrix Style Link Styler Fixer Finishing Hair Spray.

PARIS JACKSON

Hair: Paris arrived at the Met Gala wear a Stella McCartney gown in burnt sienna and a vintage tiara. Hairstylist Giannandrea styled Paris' hair to resemble a waterfall and began the style by using the MOP Basil Mint Revitalizing Shampoo. For volume and movement, he applied a generous amount of MOP Lemongrass Volume Whip at the roots and mid-lengths of her hair while it was still wet and then blow dried her hair smooth. He then set the hair at the crown in mid-sized rollers after they had been sprayed with MOP C-System Firm Finish Hairspray. A large round brush was used to blow dry the hair at the sides  and back below the crown area. An infrared flat iron smoothed and straightened the sides and back. After removing the rollers, Giannandrea brushed the hair backward and downward from the sides and back. He said it's important the top retains its base volume while the sides and back are brushed out and downward to create a waterfall effect. Finally, MOP Pomegranate Nourishing Oil was used through the hair on the sides and back only, avoiding the top of the hair.
