When it comes to suggesting and recommending take-home hair care product you can ask or you can tell.  If you ask they can say no.  If you tell they will likely listen.  Men are less suspicious of a salon recommendation than our female clients.  Men are more likely to “do what they are told”, so to speak.

Telling a male client what to use and how to use it is straight forward and simple.  The basic, to the point, instruction, “this is what you need” and then simply placing the product in their hand or on the front desk makes the sale happen quickly and easily.  Guys appreciate the straight forward approach.  If they have questions they will ask them.  If they have doubts they will raise them.  Be ready.  Be knowledgeable.  Be prepared, but be short and sweet.  Be direct and clear.  Be forceful and instructive.  Be rich and be successful, too.
