Beauty Changes Lives is launching its first professional makeup scholarship through the generosity of MUD, Make-up Designory. The BCL| MUD Make-up Scholarship will award 10 $2,500 scholarships annually to students enrolled in cosmetology or esthetics programs. Five spring and five fall scholarships will be offered to esthetic or cosmetology students who desire to expand their knowledge of makeup artistry. Spring scholarship applications are being accepted through May 2, 2016.
Lynelle Lynch, president of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation, said the BCL|MUD scholarship represents the Foundation’s first program focused on makeup artistry.
“Beauty Changes Lives is committed to helping individuals pursue the many diverse career paths available in the professional beauty and wellness industry. The addition of a make-up scholarship complements the established scholarship programs that support cosmetology, nail, esthetics and massage therapy programs and allows the Foundation to offer a comprehensive suite of beauty and wellness scholarships,” Lynch said.
Beauty Changes Lives turned to MUD Make-up to develop the scholarship. Tate Holland, CEO of MUD USA, has more than two decades experience in the professional makeup industry in Europe and the U.S. A second generation makeup professional, Tate said that new technologies and product formulations are driving demand for highly trained makeup professionals.
“The emergence of high definition television helped launch a desire for new product formulations that work in the HD environment,” he said. Holland added that the establishment of professional product lines has heightened employer demand for professional makeup artists who can work with the challenge of sheerer product formulations and the demands of high-definition image environments.
