I remember registering for beauty school like it was yesterday. It was the mid-1980's. I sat across the desk from the school owner in his dark paneled wall office. As I was signing the agreement to attend beauty school, I can still hear the school owner sharing with me what a great profession that I had chosen to get into. He said that there would always be a need for hairdressers. He went on to say that technology could aid us in our daily job but it would never replace us.
Fast forward 40 years. We now have cell phones that we do everything on including making a phone call, we have social media to share our daily lives with the world and now we even have AI that can put into words what we are feeling.
But you know what? That school owner was right!!! All of those advances in technology can't do this magic!!!!
This is Linda. Linda is in the midst of a battle with ovarian cancer.
I had the pleasure of supporting one of our newest certified salons, Custom Cut and Style in Butler, Pennsylvania as their team surprised Linda with a Hello Gorgeous! head-to-toe makeover.

I stood back and witnessed Linda come alive with each service that she received and I watched the joy on the faces of the team members as they were able to give this special woman a day that she won't soon forget.
As beauty professionals, we can do magic!!! We have a license to touch. We can create some incredible transformations in 90 minutes and that is powerful.
We all have days that we question our career choice, especially when our feet hurt and our back aches and we don't have time for lunch because our 11:00 was running late.
Let this be a reminder of this incredible gift that you have to share and what you create daily, is magic. Very few professions get to see and feel what we as hairdressers get to see and feel, and technology will never be able to take that away.
Enjoy that magic that you get to create in your chair today!!!!
