Kimemily Pham (@excellenthairsalon), owner of Excellent Hair Salon & Spa Inc, Fremont, CA, is regularly challenged with color corrections. "The last time I did a color correction on my client, Veronica, was 35 weeks ago. Since then, she hadn't done anything to her hair. She came in wanting to be blonder. She arrived with 5 inches of new growth of a level 3 darkest brown. Her midshaft had about 3 inches of a light reddish brown, and the rest of her hair was a light warm blonde."
Here Pham shares how she corrected this tough color situation:
Starting level: 3 darkest brown
Desired level : 6n light neutral brown at the newgrowth and feather into an extra light ash blonde on the ends.
Formula 1a. Matrix Light Master lightener + 30vl equal amount
Formula 1b. Matrix Light Master lightener + 40vl equal amount
Formula 2a. Matrix Light Master lightener +10vl + Olaplex mix accordingly
Formula 2b. Matrix Light Master lightener + 20vl + Olaplex mix according.
Formula 3. Matrix Socolor 6n 3oz + 20vl 3oz
Formula 4. Matrix colorSync 8v1oz+ 8n1oz +10vl 2oz +1/8oz Olaplex.
Formula 5. Matrix colorSync SPN 1oz+ clear1oz + 10vl 2oz +1/8 oz Olaplex .
Divide the hair into 4 quadrants
Step 1: Starting from the nape, working on the back 2 quadrants simultaneously, micro weave into 1/4 sections. Apply Formula 1a to the newgrowth. Then apply Formula 2a to midshaft, leaving the blonde ends out. Taking a dry applicator brush to vertically feather the product together to create a soft diffuse line. Lay foil on top. Do not fold.
Step 2: Once the 2 back quadrants were done, move right onto the front 2 quadrants. Apply Formula 1b to the newgrowth and 2b to the midshaft. Repeat the same procedure as step 1. Process for 40 minutes.
Step 3: Remove all foils, apply Formula 2a to the ends. Process for 10 minutes.
Step 4: Rinse well. Treat with Olaplex #2 for 10 minutes. Shampoo with Matrix So Silver. Treat with Matrix Instracure. Blow dry hair completely.
Step 5: Apply Formula 3 from scalp to 5 inches out.
Step 6: Apply Formula 4 to midshaft, feathering the 2 formulas together. Process for 15 minutes.
Step 7: Apply Formula 5 to the ends. Process for 5 minutes. Rinse, shampoo with Matrix So Silver and then treat with Olaplex #2 for 10 minutes. Finish with a haircut, style using, It's A 10 miracle styling potion and Moroccanoil.
