Contance Robbins (@constancerobbins), an independent salon owner at Constance Robbins Studio Salon, Upland, CA, has been an artistic educator at Matrix for 11 years and is a certified Matrix CRAFT Color Master. Her passion is hair painting and color correction, especially on long hair. “There are so many stylists who are so eager to cut everyone’s hair off, I’m focused on keeping it strong even through dramatic color changes. Healthy hair is always the most beautiful hair!”
Here she shares the details for this gorgeous transformation we found on her amazing Instagram page:
"My client came to me originally after another stylist colored her hair too dark. She wanted to go back blonde and go as light as possible while still being relatively low maintenance since her schedule with work makes it hard for her to come in all the time. We had gotten most of the brown out in previous visits but there were still some bands of dark left in the hair. Since her hair is long and very fine, I wanted to correct her color while maintaining the hair’s integrity. I decided to utilize the new Matrix Soblur colors to base adjust, color correct and tone her hair in one step with no ammonia."
STEP 1: Babylight all the hair starting with Matrix Lightmaster and 10 volume in the back, working up to 20 volume in the front. Process for 20 minutes.
STEP 2: Shampoo with Biolage Advanced Keratindose shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry thoroughly and bring back to chair.
STEP 3: Apply Matrix Soblur Cool and 10 volume at scalp area as your base adjust.
STEP 4: Immediately pull through Soblur Cool and Brighten (equal parts) and 20 volume through the ends to disperse color bands and simultaneously brighten and tone the hair. Process for 15 minutes.
STEP 5: Shampoo with Biolage Advanced Keratindose shampoo and conditioner, apply Biolage Advanced Keratindose Pro-Keratin Renewal Spray leave in conditioner and cut hair into long inverted layers. Apply Matrix Style Link Volume Builder and blow-dry. Finish off by spraying Matrix Style Link Heat Buffer before curling with a 1.5” marcel iron.
