Cyrell Cook (@hair_by_love), owner of Hair by Love Salon, Austin, Texas, says "This client had gone to a stylist in Dallas to get an 'icy silver, violet, balayage, ombre', but left with melted gummy hair that was anything but blended. She had splotches of orange and over processed chunks that had completely broken off."

Here Cook shares details about the correction that took 4.5 hours:

Step 1: Apply a stand-alone Olaplex Treatment to prep the hair.

Step 2: Apply Redken Chromatics 10AV with 20 volume (mixed 1:2  color to developer). Color is applied to the orange and banded areas only - avoiding the white blonde. "I left some of her natural root out on this application and just applied it over the banded area to smooth out the harsh lines between her natural and the mid-shaft."

Step 3: Process for 45 minutes.

Step 4. Second color application: Shadow Root: Redken Shades EQ (3N 1.75 oz+ 3V .25 oz+ 1B .50 oz). While processing, apply to the ends: Guy Tang MyDentity Demi Permanent (6SS 1oz.+ 8SS .25 oz. + 10 DL .25oz with 5 volume.)

Step 5: Process for 25 minutes and then shampoo.
