Christina Nesse (@thefierceblonde) of Philys Cuts Beauty Salon and Barbershop, Brick Township, NJ, says her natural level 4 client sports some “brassy ends and a total of 7 months of regrowth.”

Nesse, a balayage, blonding and correction specialist, shares how-to tackle that regrowth without banding:

STEP 1: Prep hair with Joico Defy Damage.

STEP 2: Apply Joico Blonde Life Powder 1:2 with 20 volume to the root area for 60 minutes.

STEP 3: Lift to a level 10 then shampoo and condition with Joico Defy Damage Shampoo and Conditioner.

STEP 4: Re-apply Joico Blonde Life Powder 1:2 with 30 volume on damp hair 1/2 inch from the scalp to ends for 60 minutes (“I like to bring the root up to the desired level so that I can match the mid shaft to ends to a perfect canvas.”)

STEP 5: Once regrowth is lifted to a level 9/10, shampoo. Then apply Joico Lumishine Dimensional Deposit Creme 1/2 10SB 1/2 8SB 5 volume equal parts for 15 minutes.
