Blonding will always be the bread and butter of the hair color industry, but that doesn't mean that colorists shouldn't experiment with new techniques. Colorist Anthony Negron (@kinganthonyyyy) was able to achieve blonding perfection using a teasy, bricklaying technique with Redken color.
Negron is not only part of MODERN's Artist Connective, but he's also part of Ulta Beauty's Design Team, which consists of 16 members, act as Ulta’s brand ambassadors. They get education, experiences and exposure, including on-camera and social media training, and platform artist experience.
Members of the Design Team attend beauty events throughout the country and are given editorial opportunities.
“As part of the team, I get to travel and do photoshoots,” Negron says. “But it’s also about taking everything I’ve learned from the extensive training I receive and bring it back into the salon to take care of my clients and give them a wow experience.”
In this video, Negron demos how to give your clients the perfect blonde color using the bricklaying technique:
Part hair into the 3 traditional sections
Start at the nape area with a diagonal back section on both sides.
Weave the sections in an organic way and tease the hair. HOT TIP: always tease gently for a better brush out at the end.
Apply lightener feathering it up. HOT TIP: use brush side ways.
Once you do both sides your going to be left triangle section, take that n weave it as well.
Continue this all the way up.
Once you get to the sides you are going to do the same thing but the sections are going to me diagonal forward.
