Fashion Frenzy, the CosmoProf Beauty sponsored student makeover competition, is designed to inspire and excite cosmetology students. Inspire and excite it did, with the results of the most recent competition announced at the Intercoiffure 2012 Spring Symposium held this past weekend at the Fontainbleau Hotel in Miami, Florida.
The six finalists were invited to attend and present on stage to the hundreds of top salon owners and their teams in the audience. Charmain Smith of Alberta Canada received the most votes for her two toned updo featuring a sleek side swept fringe and adorned with an asymmetrical bright red accent addition. Second place was earned by Cherise McFarland and third place was picked up by Jennifer Vasquez.
The student competitors experienced many highlights during their three day visit in Miami. All were treated to mentoring sessions with key industry members including John Moroney of Goldwell and Fabio Sementilli of P&G Professionals. Luis Alvarez of Aquage held a 3 hour mentoring dinner and then worked with the students the following day for their photosession with industry photographer Babak. The finished photos will appear in several industry magazines and will appear on the cover of the CosmoProf Beauty catalogue.
"I can't even say how I feel," said Charmain Smith after her name was announced as the winner. "This is an incredibly exciting moment for me. I feel I have learned so much and hope to keep learning."
According to Carolyn Corporon, Vice President of Marketing for CosmoProf Beauty, that is what it is all about. "We are doing this to help prepare students to be the best they can be. Fashion Frenzy is just one vehicle to encourage them to strive for perfection."
