THE DETAILS: Winners from around the globe gathered in Hollywood for two days of education, networking and special soirees. The event kicked off with a dinner at the Beverly Hills home of Paula Kent Meehan, founder of the GSBA. The next evening, attendees enjoyed "A Hollywood Affair" party at the Renaissance Hotel. The event culminated with the awards ceremony honoring the best salons in the world.
THE BUZZ: The Business Forum featured keynote speaker Mark Thompson (author of Success Built to Last) and Dr. Al Osborne, senior assistant dean at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. This year's event also included a panel of celebrity stylists, in keeping with the Hollywood theme. Hosted by Access Hollywood's Billy Bush, the panel included Jose Ebér, Jose Ebér Atelier; Giuseppe Franco, Giuseppe Franco Salon; Amanda George, Neil George Salon; Ginger Boyle, Planet Salon; and Kim Vo, Kim Vo Salon.
THE LAST WORD: The crowd was buzzing when legendary stylist and salon owner Jose Ebér was honored with GSBA's Lifetime Achievement Award. Actress and host of Shear Genius Jaclyn Smith, a longtime client of Eber, presented him with the award. Television personality Leeza Gibbons was also onhand as the event's emcee.
