Inspired by fairy princesses, white witches, wenches and conniving queens of fables, Michael Albor, Matrix artist, pays homage to the style and influence of his mentors, including Matrix Artistic Directors Nicholas French, and Brian and Sandra Smith. “Like all of my work, this collection took on a life of its own as we worked," says Albor. “We started with the amazing Edwardian- and Victorian-inspired wardrobe pieces from our stylist and went from there.” Albor and his collaborators chose a monochromatic theme, with bright and airy lighting, all-white clothing and props and flaxen hair color. The result is a cheeky mash-up of eras and historical references, featuring a stunning range of shapes, from the crimped and waved “horns” of the evil princess to the deep finger waves of the serving girl and the roseshaped “fascinator.”
