For the beauty industry itself to continue to be healthy, we must always have an eye out for the next generation of professionals. That is the focus of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation (BCL), which develops scholarship opportunities and finds mentors for people who want to become salon pros. This fall, CosmoProf is partnering with BCL to make it fun and easy for anyone to help make a difference through a “Licensed to Create” initiative.

“We see the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation and their scholarship program as an essential step to developing the next generation of licensed professionals,” says Jen Wilder, vice president of CosmoProf and a BCL board member. “CosmoProf believes in the beauty professional, and we strive to provide education, inspiration, a sense of community and professional products to all those Licensed to Create.”

Get involved!

  • During September and October, CosmoProf members who donate at least $5 to BCL at any CosmoProf store checkout or while consulting with a CosmoProf sales consultant will receive a complimentary License to Create tote bag.

  • During November, limited-edition Licensed to Create cosmetic bags will be available for $9.99, and $1 of that will be donated to BCL.

  • All funds raised through these efforts will be matched by CosmoProf, up to $25,000.

Show further support on social media using #igaveatip and #scholartips. ScholarTips is a donation challenge asking beauty professionals to donate two kinds of “tips”—monetary tips they receive from clients and verbal tips for succeeding in the industry. CosmoProf Brand Ambassador Larissa Love has posted an Instagram video pledging support and challenging her 284,000 followers to join her.

“Not everyone has support when they go to beauty school,” Love notes. “People are told that doing hair is just a hobby, not a career. It’s important to support those who cannot afford school but are passionate about our industry and want to become stylists.”
