“I can't think of a single person who would want their stylist to use a brush that wasn’t properly cleaned and sanitized before being put into their hair," says Jesse Linares, Sam Villa ArTeam. "Let's give our guests the service they expect and ensure we’re using clean brushes and styling tools for each one to maximize their experience!”
In this video, Linares shares a simple way to clean brushes, as well as a hot tip on how to use a blow dryer with a round brush to prevent the bristles from burning.

Each state has specific requirements for sanitizing tools, make sure to follow them…Linares also suggests cleaning brushes/tools between each guest to ensure they are comfortable, their expectations are being met and they are receiving a professional service.
How brushes are used also determines how long they will last, for instance, holding a blow dryer too close to the brush can damage the bristles. When this happens the dryer makes a high-pitched sound, it’s back flowing the motor, because there is not enough space between the brush/hair and the dryer nozzle. To fix, adjust the flow of the air so it passes over the bristles/hair to minimize damage.
