HOW-TO: Covering Gray Hair With a Balayage-Ombre Using Olaplex
In this before and after, Excellent Hair Salon's Kimemily Pham's client requested a color correction with a cooler tone. Pham decided to transform this graying client into a beautiful balayage-ombre.
Kimemily Pham, stylist at Excellent Hair Salon in Fremont, California, conducts a thorough consultation with each of her clients to find out how they envision their end results. "I determine which styles will be compatible with their personalities and lifestyles," she says. Pham also finds inspiration in observing the work of others on Instagram, like the "King of Ombre" Guy Tang, and Redken’s Education Artistic Director and platform artist, Sam Villa. "This motivates me to continue learning new ways to provide my clients with the best service possible."
In the before and after below, Pham's client, Farzana, works overseas and visits Excellent Hair Salon three to four times per year. Her frequent traveling and busy work schedule make it difficult for her to find time for proper hair care, says Pham. On this occasion, she came in with previously highlighted and colored hair. "There was a 3-inch band of black dye on the crown and along her hairline, and a 3-inch outgrowth of 20% gray in the back."
