Festival season is about more than music--culture, style and hair have been taken to NYFW street-style levels at Coachella, SXSW, Lollapalooza and more across the country.
Pravana artists created custom color (click here for formulation) and style inspired by the laid-back, fun-loving festival vibe that spring and summer usher in. The styles are designed to build upon one another as a three-day festival goes on--no re-wash required! Here's the style for day one.
Day 1: Braided Half-Up Hair
Loose waves with braided accents and lots of texture will elevate your clients to photo-worthy status in no time.
STEP 1: Begin with clean, dry, smooth hair. Mist Pravana Vivids Color Protect Sealing Spray throughout hair. UV protection will shield bright colors from fading in the sun.
STEP 2: Follow with Nevo Invisible Control for heat protection, texture and long-lasting hold.
STEP 3: Backcomb at scalp through the top of the head and spray lightly with Nevo Super Shape.
STEP 4: Work from the nape to the crown; take random 1-inch pieces of hair and curl loosely through ends while leaving some pieces out.
STEP 5: Backcomb hair at the crown for full volume.
STEP 6: Start in the front hairline and create a waterfall braid:
a. Start with three strands.
b. Cross the bottom strand over the middle strand.
c. Cross the top strand over the middle strand and allow to drop out.
d. Gather a new strand from the bottom.
e. Repeat and continue into the crown.
STEP 7: Loosen braid, then fasten with a clip. Repeat on other side.
STEP 8: Cross the two braids and loosen hair through the crown. Secure braids together with an elastic.
STEP 9: Braid a loose strand, then wrap around the elastic band and secure with a bobby pin.
STEP 10: Loosely curl remaining hair through sides.
STEP 11: Add accent braids, then tease through ends and spray with Nevo Super Shape to secure.
STEP 12: Take small strands and flat-wrap around a small cylinder then flatiron and finger tease to add texture to hair.
