A stylist at Christophe Salon and self-proclaimed blonde and balayage specialist Ashley Rydbeck (@colorbyashley) volunteered to have Backe color her natural level 7 hair.

Backe graciously shared his technique and formulations on his Instagram page. Take a look at how he pulled of Rydbeck's dreamy lavender locks!

Get the color: Dusty lavender dream

STEP 1: For new growth (natural level 7), use L'Oréal Professionnel Majirel High Lift in equal parts Ash+ and Violet with 30vol.

STEP 2: Process for 55 minutes. During last 15 minutes, apply L'Oréal Professionnel Blond Studio Sunkissed Lightening Oil with 20vol midlengths to ends to brighten.

STEP 3: Shampoo and dry hair.

STEP 4: For lavender finish, use L'Oréal Professionnel Dialight 9.02 plus a pearl-sized drop of 4.20 with 15vol on new growth and 10.21 with a pearl-sized drop of 4.20 and 9vol for midlengths to ends.

STEP 5: After processing about 10 minutes, add depth and drama with 4.20 and 15vol massaged away from scalp and toward ends. Do this for about 4 minutes.

STEP 6: Shampoo, condition and dry hair. Style as desired.
