Undone is in. Artistic Ambassador for Pureology Serious Color Care, Ruth Roche, says so. Harper's Bazaarsays so. Blumarine's fall/winter 2014 Milan show says so. We say so, too. So it must be true!

"These waves are edgy enough for the runway but realistic enough for women to wear every day," Roche says. "You just can't make them too perfect or it takes the cool factor out."

GET THE LOOK

STEP 1: Wrap hair around a 1-1/4-inch curling iron. Focus on the root area; the idea is to lift and redirect roots to create texture. When wrapping, let the ends stay free for a more irregular look. Vary the wrapping direction to give roots more character.

STEP 2: Don't use a brush after curling, as it will polish the waves too much. Use your fingers to gently pull through if you feel necessary.

STEP 3: Set the waves with a setting spray (try Pureology Strengthening Control Zero Dulling Hairspray).

Pro Tip: "This style can look even better the second day with a bit of Pureology Fresh Approach Dry Shampoo to help lift and redirect the roots," Roche says. "Apply to the root area throughout, holding the can about 6 inches away from the head. Be sure to lift each section so product is applied to the root area, and use a blow-dryer quickly on the areas where the product is to help absorb the oil."
