Rickey Zito is the owner of HeadRushSalon in Gonzales, Louisiana, a salon that Zito describes as "a very edgy salon filled with passionate employees". When MODERN found this colorful finish on Zito's instagram (@HairGod_Zito), we asked for details. Zito obliged. This process took 2 hours and he charged $200.
Formulas :
Keune bleach + 30 volume developer + 1/4 oz. of Olaplex
Pravana Pastels in Luscious Lavender & Mystical Mint
I also created my own lavender using 3 oz. of Pravana clear, 1 oz. of Pravana Rosa Pink, and 2 drops of Pravana Purple.
Application
Step 1 : Enlighten hair using first formula, (Hint- when using pastels, you always want to lift the hair using Olaplex to reach a pretty pale yellow, like the inside of a banana).
Step 2 : Section hair as desired.
Step 3: App ly Pravana Pastels to create an ombre of your desired choice.
Step 4: Process for 10 minutes.
Step 5: Rinse with cold water.
Step 6: Shampoo and Condition with Jellua Squid Ink Active Shampoo and Jellua Squid Ink Repair Treatment Cream.
Step7: Apply Kevin Muphy "Smooth Again", Kevin Murphy "Hair Resort", and Kevin Murphy "Body Builder" through out hair when wet.
Step 8: Blow dry and style as desired.
TIPS
When applying pastels, saturation is key! (Plaster on the color).
Use Kevin Murphy "Fresh hair" dry shampoo to spread out washes! The less you wash your hair, the longer the color lasts.
Rinsing with cold water helps the color from bleading onto other color.
TOUCH UPS:
Clients come 6 weeks after their hair is colored for touch ups.
