How-to Remove Oil-Based Color and Direct Dyes

“Pictures don’t do this transformation justice. There were four inches of new growth and her ends were a reddish brown color. Malibu C CPR to the rescue! We pulled a TON of color off her ends and had a much more even canvas to work with.” -- Stacy Benge (@stacy.benge), Malibu C Educator

Some color just overstays its welcome. Enter the “dynamic duo” from Malibu C to kick it to the curb, a pairing of Malibu C CPR(which reduces and removes up to three levels of unwanted permanent oxidative color pigment) and new Malibu C Color Disruptor.

“I specialize in corrective color and there were certain lines that did not want to move while using a gentle approach like CPR, so I knew we needed something,” says Missy Peterson, director of global education and artistry, Malibu C. “Oil-based colors, some direct dyes and some henna is difficult to remove. The color disruptor literally goes in and ‘disrupts’ where the color molecule is sitting in the hair shaft.”

Malibu C offers a “Corrective Colour Toolbox” of options for removing color while also helping to preserve the integrity of the hair.

“The other side of the disruptor is that it has an alcohol in it as well,” Peterson continues. “Some colors that attach via an ionic charge need help letting go of the hair. The alcohol addresses this, dissipates and then lets the oil do the rest. The Color Disruptor in conjunction with CPR is the healthiest, non-oxidative, vegan way to remove color from the hair regardless of what the color is. With these new tools in their hands, professional stylists have a new game plan for corrective color.”
