I have always loved making a statement in everything I do." Her inspiration for all his platinum blondes is the winter wonderland meets the bold chic look. "When fall was approaching these colors definitely stood out to me because they are not so common in the small town that I live in," he says. "I want my clients to stand out from all the other women with regular blonde hair. My white blonde clients definitely fit the part as well, these colors are not just for anyone, they are for the bold ladies who want to make that statement and make everyone turn heads as they walk in the room. When it comes to my work, I want my clients to leave my chair feeling unique and one of a kind in the most beautiful way."
Here Mulenga offers the HOW TO for this dramatic platinum finish:
Starting/Natural level level 7 blonde with level 9 tips.
Step 1: Apply Goldwell Oxycur Platin dust free bleach using 30 volume in foils up to the line of demarcation to avoid overlapping.
Step 2: Process for 30-40 minutes, lifting to pale yellow ("But keep an eye on it to make sure to not overprocess," says Mulenga).
Step 3: Shampoo and condition the hair using Joico Reconstructive shampoo/conditioner (leave conditioner on for 5-10 minutes).
Step 4: Towel dry well and apply Matrix Ultra Blonde VV highlift color with 20 volume developer. ("To protect the scalp from irritation I carefully apply cotton in between each parting and apply color about .5" away from the scalp.)
Step 5: Process for 20-30 minutes.
Step 6: Shampoo hair with Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo (shampoo very quickly, hair might absorb the purple or turn silver if prolonged).
Step 7: Deep condition for 5-10 with Joico Reconstructive conditioner.
Step 8: Blow dry until hair is damp then apply Kenra Smoothing Cream. Dry completely and apply Kenra Silkening Gloss.
Step 9: Style as desired and polish with Kenra Shine Spray and Kenra Number 13 Finishing Spray for a light hold on the blowout or style.
