THE EVENT: Intercoiffure America/Canada 2015 Spring Atelier, The Boca Raton Resort and Hotel, Boca Raton, Florida.
DETAILS: This 2 day atelier (workshop) was jam packed with inspiration, information AND fun! Day one featured several back to back powerful stage presentations including the “Nouveau Team” and “Cut, Color Connect” shows. There were multiple business seminars including “Trim Your Liabilities: Employee Social Media & Phone Use” and “Succeed & Understand the Industry’s Evolving Workforce”. The highly anticipated “Reducing Breakage with Olaplex” was offered to a standing room only crowd. Day two was all about in depth education and business. MODERN’s Publisher, Steve Reiss, (along with Oliver Steinnagel and Steve Sleeper), was part of the “Succeed and Understand The Industry’s Evolving Workforce” panel for a bursting at the seams Q&A session which followed an enlightening “Best Practices Panel” led by top salon owners. Belinda Gambuzza, ICA Haircolor Education Director; Sonya Dove, ICA Haircolor Director and Amy Michleb, ICA Cutting Council Director, balanced the business discussions with hands on/top notch color and cut training. It was a FULL two day event.
HIGHLIGHTS: The Spring Atelier was filled with highlights. The Disco-Party did not disappoint and the “Light The Way Through Inspired Brilliance” presentation by Anne Mincey received a standing ovation. But, as always, the most important part of every Intercoiffure Atelier is the interaction among the salon owners and artists in attendance. A breakfast chat, a lunch connection, a chance meeting at the pool or even bumping into a member in the elevator…the non-stop sharing is intense.
ANNOUNCED: There is fresh and exciting leadership at Intercoiffure America/Canada. Frank Gambuzza, long time member and owner (with wife Belinda) of Salon Visage Group, Knoxville, Tenn was announced as the new ICA President. Van Council, owner of the Van Michael Concept Salons, Atlanta, Georgia, was introduced as the new ICA Fashion Director, the 12th ever named to this position. And this news just in: ICA is planning a photo shoot in Havana, Cuba in early 2016.
THE LAST WORD: "I am honored and privileged to have been voted by my peers to take Intercoiffure America/Canada into the future,” says new President Frank Gambuzza. “I will not take that trust for granted and they know that I will give my all to Intercoiffure! All this will be done by myself and the Board of Directors while 'Honoring the Past and Embracing the Future'!"
