Joan Rivers at Badgley Mischka

In all of my years covering fashion week I have witnessed lots of drama. However, I was NOT prepared for the frenzy caused by the appearance of Joan Rivers backstage during Mercedez Benz Fashion Week at the Badgley Mischka show. Peter Gray (for Moroccanoil) was finishing up creating his "fluffy cloud bombs" on his dozens of models when Joan and her posse of about 6 HUGE men (camera guys, audio, producers) and some other more petite people (make up peeps, etc) stormed the backstage area.

It was tight to begin with and Joan and team made it even more chaotic. Can you imagine doing hair in this environment? Gray and team make it look easy. No surprise for the mild mannered Peter who is a fashion week king. The icing on the cake came when Joan walked from back stage to the front of house. Most people in the audience stood and cheered as the teeny tiny Joan made her way to her seat. I have never seen any celeb receive applause before at any show. Check out this video to see the madness backstage. What a blast.
