Guess what?! I just finished Phase 3 of 4 in beauty school! That’s right! I passed my written exam and practicals and am headed into my next phase. Phase 4 consists of two-weeks of final testing and additional practicals, and then, I head back on the salon floor to service clients and practice on my mannequin until I reach my 1,500 hours! WOO WOO! I can’t even believe I’ve already completed more than 1,000 hours in beauty school.

When I think back to the first day of class, I remember being really nervous that I would be looked at differently because I was slightly older than the rest of the class, I was nervous they would be weary of growing close to me because I’m a blogger and would be writing about them!, and I was especially nervous that I had committed myself to getting my license, on top of working fulltime for the magazines, AND travelling a ton. What did I get myself into!?
Well, turns out I got myself into the best decision I ever made. Going to school is the BEST part of my whole day. I laugh soooo hard, I learn sooo much and I enjoy every client I work on… well, almost every client, hah!
I can’t believe it’s been more than a year already. We’ve all changed so much from the first day of school—in terms of the way we look, the way we carry ourselves with confidence, and the way we communicate and interact with others. I for one was VERY nervous about getting clients—now, it’s no worries! While I’m certainly no master stylist, I’ve become a master student, if there is such a thing. I’m not afraid to ask for help, which I think is the most important thing we can do to be successful. Yes, trust your gut instinct, but ask others for their advice or opinion on something.
I am so excited to keep the education coming and so excited that you’ve hung out with me on this amazing journey. I’ve got another 5 months or so left! Wish me luck!
